What's Been Happening?!

Wow I've been away for awhile (except for my last post, which was done in like 2 minutes so doesn't count!).  I've been in wedding planning overdrive lately.  We are going home to Ontario for the holidays in less than 2 weeks and there is so much wedding stuff to be done.  We are home for 3 weeks and we basically have to get everything in gear in that time because we are getting married in Ontario and we won't be back until a month before the wedding so its better to get it all under control while we're there.

We are having an engagement party at my sisters house on the last weekend we're home.  It's been kind of stressful because we have to basically invite everyone who is invited to the wedding and that is a lot of people to fit into one house.  Thankfully a bunch of people won't be coming because I have family in British Columbia and Nova Scotia that won't make it out and Jeff has family in Ottawa that won't make it either.  It's not going to be a huge party, just an afternoon get together from 1-4pm to see us and congratulate us.

The first full day we are home for the holidays is already busy with wedding stuff.  We are having a food tasting at our reception site to see exactly what food we like and will be serving to our guests.  There is so much amazing food to taste, but I am most looking forward to the Belgium chocolate mousse cake and the creme brule!  The food is so fancy at this place, our guests are really going to be treated well!

We are also meeting with a photography company at some point to see their portfolio and book them in for our wedding day.  The price is steep, but it's worth it to have beautiful photos to remember your day.

The cake is probably the only thing we don't have a meeting booked for.  We are just going to look at different bakeries in the area and then choose one.  Price isn't really a problem here, I mean, we need a wedding cake!  I just want a plain vanilla cake with butter cream frosting and NO fondant.  I don't like crazy cake flavours, vanilla is my favourite so that's what I'm going to get.  As for fondant, it tastes and feels like sandpaper, so no thank-you.

All this PLUS Christmas and New Years!  It's a good thing we're going home for 3 weeks because we never could have fit all this in just 2.  Oh and I just remembered that my sisters and I are going bridesmaid dress shopping AND I have to go and find a dress for my Mom and Jeff's Mom!  Ugh, it's going to be my busiest holidays ever.  This is my wedding though, and as long as everything goes my way and people don't try to do other things behind my back or try to change my mind decisions I make (expect for Jeff), everything should go smoothly.

Hopefully...

Wedding Planning Madness!

I have been going non-stop for about 4 days doing wedding stuff.  Usually I pick something to do and then I slowly get around to finishing it.  However, since we decided when we are going home for Christmas, I decided to kick things into high gear because the time we are home during the holidays is basically the only time we will have before the actual wedding.

We decided to go home from December 22nd to January 9th.  That is hopefully a good amount of time to get everything done.  I know our wedding is 9 months away but since we are planning it out of province, it's a little bit more trickier than the average wedding.  My 2 sisters are planning the engagement party and that has been on my mind a lot this past week.  We decided to just have it at my sisters house because booking a hall would be $500 for the cheapest and that is just way too expensive for just an afternoon (says the bride with the $16,000 reception hall booking lol!).  Anyways, it should be okay, it's really only a drop in thing to see us and congratulate us or whatever.

I also ordered all my flowers.  My Aunt in a florist and she is doing them at a super family discounted price and that is extremely awesome!  Even more awesome considering I picked the most expensive flowers out there:  red roses and white calla lilies.  My wedding colours are red and white and the flowers are going to look so beautiful!  I ordered my bouquet, 3 maid of Honor/bridesmaid bouquets, 5 corsages (moms and grandmothers) and 8 boutonnieres (groom/best man/groomsmen/ushers/ring bearer/fathers).  Plus my Aunt told me that she has some sparkle spray to add to the bouquets and some fake diamonds to add as well.  It's going to be so beautiful!

I've also had one of my sisters tracking down a hair and makeup artist who is willing to come out to the hotel we are staying at the morning of the wedding.  I think we found a good one, we just had to see if she is available for my date.  My sister emailed her, so hopefully she's available because that will be one more thing I can check off my list!

So, I don't know what I'll do next.  Tomorrow I think I'll just take a day off from wedding planning and maybe sleep in.  That probably won't happen though lol.  Oh well, it's all going to be worth it because I know my wedding is going to turn out amazing.  For the price of everything, it better!

Trying Hard To Cheer Up

Hey guys.

I've been having a really depressing fall.  As I mentioned in my last post, our family dog had to be put down.  His names was Casper and he was a Lhasa Apso and he was 15 or 16 years old.  That's pretty old for a dog, and I guess it was just his time.  It hurt even more for me because he lives in Ontario with my family and I couldn't be there for his last years.  I cried so hard when it was done, it was so upsetting.  Even writing this now, I feel like crying.  I know he's in a better place now with our other dog Barney, but I am still going to miss him.

Another thing making me upset is this crazy woman who moved into the apartment below us.  Let me just start off by saying that they walls and floors in this place are basically paper thin, the building was built in the 60's.  There are lots of regular living noises that can be heard here, you just learn to tune them out.  Well this woman has been here MAYBE a month, and it's been hell.  She's not even old, she maybe around 30.  Every single little noise that I make in my own apartment, she bangs like a maniac on the ceiling.  I mean seriously, she sounds like an insane woman who should be put into SEVERE anger management classes.  As I mentioned above, I cried when Casper was put down.  She banged on the ceiling when I cried.  I had my hair dryer on, she banged on the ceiling.  Electric mixer while baking cookies?  Ceiling banging.  It's getting worse though.  I raised my voice once when Jeff was annoying me, and she not only banged on the ceiling, but she called the landlord.  The worse part is, I have only seen her once when I was doing my laundry, she never even spoke to me and just gave me a dirty look.  She has never come up stairs and knocked on my door to see if there is a real problem, she just bangs on the ceiling.  It gets even more insane because she is a single mother to little boy who is about 6-7.  Yeah, she is banging on the ceiling and acting like an out of control lunatic in front of her young child.  Well after the landlord call, I've had it.  If she bangs one more time for me making a small noise, I'm emailing my landlord and then going down there and asking her what the hell her problem is.  I can't move here, it's like I'm a prisoner in my own home!  If she wants to start paying my rent, she can tell me how to live.  Until then, kiss my ass lady!

It's mid October and in Manitoba that means cold weather.  It's supposed to snow before Halloween!  Jeff and I went to a Haunted Forest and Corn Maze last weekend with our friends and I almost died I swear.  After 15 minutes my legs were covered in hives and I nearly passed out.  Jeff had to tie his sweater around my knees, but that didn't help and I even had long johns on under my jeans AND I had taken 4 allergy pills.  Nothing works anymore.  I told everyone that I was fine, but I was far from it.  I passed out in the car on the way home.  It seems my cold allergy is getting worse and worse each year and there is no cure and I have tried just about every allergy pill out there and nothing works.  This is going to be one long winter.

I guess the only good news I have right now is I've lost about 19 pounds since we've been engaged.  I hope to lose about 20 more, but I'm not going to the extreme.  Just eating healthier and working out on my elliptical.  It really does work if you put some effort into it.  Diet pills and all the crap are just that, crap.  The old fashioned way is really the best way.

So as you can see, I've been having a bit of a depressing time.  I hope it doesn't get worse, but I feel it will due to the cold weather.  Sigh...

Autumn Has (Sadly) Arrived

I know what you are all probably thinking.  You're thinking that autumn is probably your favourite season of the year because of all the beautiful colours of changing leaves, the crisp air, and Thanksgiving and Halloween are just around the corner.  Well I love all those things too.  I'm just in a depressed mood because it's getting colder and I can't go outside as much as I would like to because of my cold allergy.  I even had to dig my winter coat out from the back of the closet.  I feel sorry for Dixie too, I would love to take her for longer walks but I can't without getting sick.  If am feeling this bad now, I am REALLY not looking forward to winter.

I have started taking a new over the counter allergy medication.  It's about the 5th one I've tried, nothing ever seems to work.  This new one is called Desloratidine and it's basically the store brand of Aerius, a well known allergy medication.  I prefer to get the store brand because it's the same thing except you get more at a cheaper price.  Unfortunately, no allergy pill really works for completely stopping my allergy from happening, it just makes the hives go away a little bit faster once they arrive.  When my mom was visiting I tried one of her prescription allergy pills called Singular, but it didn't work either.  I really wish there was a cure for the stupid allergy, it's so hard to live with.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Wow, I can't believe I haven't posted in a month. I have been really busy though, and I know it seems like I say that all the time but I'm getting married okay, I'm actually extremely busy lol.

For the past 8 days I've been playing host to my Mom, youngest sister, and Grandmother. They came last Saturday and left yesterday. How am I feeling after a very loud and stressful 8 days? Let's just say I slept in today and relished in the silence. Its not that I don't like my family, its just that I really enjoy my quiet time. Plus the fact that my Grandmother seemed to starting fights for no good reason. I love her, but I would have been more at ease if just my Mom and sister came out. Going home for Christmas should be interesting.

Something good did happen while they were here though. Actually, something amazing happened. I bought my dream wedding dress! Oh my God I never knew that I could ever lay eyes on such a beautiful piece of clothing. I don't want to explain it too much here in case Jeff reads this, but its gorgeous. Not so keen on the $1090 price tag or the $200+ in alterations that need to be done to shorten it, but hey you only get married once right? Got to make it count! I tried on the sample dress and then I ordered it in my size. It will be in the store in January and then I can go in and have fittings. I can't wait to go in and try it on again, I am seriously in love with this dress!

Well I'm laying in bed and sending this via my Blackberry and I'm getting pretty tired. I'll try to post more often, honest lol.

Posting From My Blackberry!

YAY! I finally figured out how to post from my Blackberry! I have been trying to figure out for awhile, but it turns out that what I was doing is only available in the US. Figures! What I had to do was go into my blog settings and create an email address for my blog. Now all I have to do is email my blog from my Blackberry (hurray for unlimited data plans!) And it instantly posts it to my blog. Now I post whenever and wherever I feel like! Uh oh, this might not be such a good thing haha!

Lonely, Boring Night

Jeff is yet again at another Toastmasters meeting in Winnipeg and he won't be home until around 11:30pm, so I'm stuck here all by myself (well, Dixie and Sampras are here of course!) so I decided to post a blog.

I was really sick last week.  I had a fever of 102°F for 3 days straight and I felt like I was going to faint every single time I stood up.  It felt like I had the worst flu in the history of flus, but I didn't have a stuffed up nose and I wasn't coughing.  All I had was the fever, faintness, tiredness, and my head felt like it weighed a million pounds.  I thought it was going away on Friday and I even spent the day in Winnipeg with my bridesmaid on Saturday, but when I got home on Saturday night it just all came rushing back to me.  I think I've kicked it now though, hopefully anyway.  I had a bit of a stomach ache but it's going away now.

Jeff and I got Blackberry's a few weeks ago.  It's so cool because Jeff and I synced our phones with the Google Maps app and we can see each other's exact location.  It's really neat, like right now I can see that Jeff is obviously finished his meeting because he is doing some grocery shopping at the Superstore.  I even emailed him our grocery list from a grocery list app that I downloaded.  It's so cool, I feel like I don't know how I lived without it before!

Holy, it's the middle of August and the temperature here in Southern Manitoba hit a high of +12°C today!  I mean, I know we have some extremely cold winters, but we have really hot summers and that temperature is just WAY too cold for this time of year!  It's especially weird because last week we were in this incredible heat wave where the temperatures where in the +40's!  I don't understand this weather, but it is supposed to warm back up to the mid +20's buy the weekend so hopefully that happens.

Well, nothing else is really going on.  My ELF package still hasn't arrived, but it should be here any day now.  I also ordered 2 palettes from Coastal Scents on Saturday, they came in a combo set so the price was like $5 cheaper.  I ordered the 88 Metal Mania palette and the 88 Warm palette.  Here is a link so you can see the exact combo pack I ordered: http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm/product/2146_122/combo-set-6.cfm  I'm so excited for them to arrive!

Going Insane!

First of all, that 30 day challenge thing I was doing on here... obviously I have failed horribly at keeping it up to date so I've just decided to let it go.  Getting engaged right in the middle of the challenge didn't help its cause either, I am just too damn excited to write about anything else!

Actually I'm not feeling very excited about the whole wedding as of late.  Things are just getting out of hand.  I mean, we have 11 months and 18 days to go before the big day and our families are pushing us to get everything done RIGHT NOW!  We already have the church and the reception site booked, plus the DJ, so we are well ahead of schedule.  I'm also getting my dress next month, so that will also be out of the way.

My mother is also driving me nuts.  She says that I HAVE to spend the night before my wedding in her house, no matter what.  The only problem it, there will be 16 other people there!  I will get no sleep and there is no way I will be able to get ready in the morning.  My hair and makeup people won't even be able to park or get in the door!  My sister and I already talked and we are going to be staying in a hotel the night before and that's that.  I don't care what my Mom says, I don't even live there so I don't know why she wants me there for that one night so bad.  If she wants to see me the night before, she can come to the hotel, it's that simple.  I just don't need my 2 grandmothers, my grandfather, my aunt and her boyfriend, and a whole bunch of other people crowing around me in the middle of a Southern Ontario summer on the morning of my wedding, it's just not happening.  I will have a panic attack I know it, so I'm just doing what I want to do.  It's my wedding dammit!  Jeff agrees with me too, he wants to make sure that everything goes perfect for us and he even offered to put my maids of Honor and my bridesmaid in a hotel too so that they have room to get ready also.  Oh my God what a shit show this is turning out to be!

To make matter worse I've been really sick this past week.  I went swimming the river for the first time in 3 years because I have to be cautious with my allergy.  First time in 3 years and I get sick of course.  I had a fever of 102.5 F for 2 days but it seems to have gone down now.  My head just feels really heavy still, like I have an extremely bad cold but I'm not stuffed up or anything.  I just hope it goes away soon.  Tonight we are going to the casino to try to win the $150k jackpot in Bingo (not likely to win lol, but it's still fun).  I hope I am feeling a bit better by then at least.  I've been living off of vitamin C tablets lol.  They are the only thing that works for me.  We are going tonight with my bridesmaid and her husband, who is also in our wedding as an usher.  It's going to be really fun.

Well, I'm off to get my day started.  Talk to you all later!

Ps.  I just found this wedding template and I am loving it!
Pps.  Oh and I also just made a HUGE ELF order this week, so when it comes in I'll show you what I got!

Wedding Planning!

Hello all, I'm sorry I haven't updated in a long time.  I've been so busy lately!  First off, I just had my final exam for my business law course on Tuesday.  I won't get the mark for about a week so I'm not sure how I did on it.  Hopefully I did okay though.  The last few weeks have been so filled with school work that I haven't had time to do anything else.  Now that school is over though, I can focus on things that I actually want to do...

Like plan my wedding!  Holy holy I am so freakin' excited still!  I know I got engaged like 3 weeks ago but I'm still all giddy and stuff, and now that school is over I can finally get into the nitty gritty of planning.  We already have our church and reception site booked, so that's all taken care of.  We are getting married back in Ontario because there is no way that I would expect my family members and Jeff's family to pay to come to my wedding, that is just ridiculous.  Besides, almost everyone we know is back in Ontario.  We also have our wedding party all picked out too.  I couldn't chose between my two sisters so I made them both Maid of Honor.  I have a bridesmaid too, she is a friend from here in Manitoba.  Jeff is having a friend from Ontario be his best man and his two brothers are going to be the groomsmen.  Our ring bearer is a kid I used to babysit and our flower girl is the daughter of my parents neighbours.  Our 2 ushers are friends of ours, one from Manitoba and one from Ontario.  So that is all worked out.  We have actually done a lot for only being engaged for 3 weeks.  Oh well, I want everything to be taken care of so that I'm not more rushed than I need to be near the big day.  We have decided that the date is going to be July 30th, 2011.

My Mom, Nana, and youngest sister are coming out here in September and we are going wedding dress shopping!  I'm so excited, I went online and picked out a few dresses that I really like and printed pics of them so that I can bring them when I go.  I am getting the dress here so that I can go in for alterations and things like that.  I'll just take it as carry-on when I fly home for the wedding.  I have picked 2 nice bridesmaids dresses, but I need to show them to my sisters and my friend first to see how they like them.

Oh another awesome thing... my aunt is a professional florist who did the flowers for THE QUEEN in Halifax a few months ago... and she is doing all my flowers for FREE!! That's right, $3000-$4000 worth of red roses for free.  Holy crap, I was so excited to hear that!  We also have a DJ for really REALLY cheap because my Mom and Dad are friends with professional DJ's.  Our wedding is going to be freakin' awesome!

There is still a lot more we need to do though, but I think we're off to an amazing start!

Day 12 — Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

I just finished cleaning my whole apartment and I needed to sit down for a bit.  My feet are killing me!  I guess that's what I get for being a little OCD and spending the last 4-5 hours scrubbing almost everything I can see.

Jeff's brother and his girlfriend are coming tomorrow from on Ontario for a visit!  I'm really excited, it's going to be so fun!  They are only staying until Monday, but this was a really good weekend to come here because it's our town's annual birthday a.k.a. 3 days of non-stop partying and drinking lol.  It's going to be a really good time.  I just hope the weather holds out.  About an hour ago there was just  HUGE storm with the loudest thunder I have ever heard in my life.  We get some pretty wild storms here in Manitoba.  The forecast says that there is a 40% chance of rain on Saturday and I really hope its wrong.  Our town has fireworks that night and an outdoor beer garden tent.  Please don't rain!

Today is Sampras' 2nd birthday!  He's growing up too fast lol.  I told Jeff to buy him a can of tuna for a special birthday dinner.  I know he's just a cat and has no idea what a birthday is or even what the date is, but I know it's his birthday and dammit I'm going to celebrate!

Well that's all I have to say for now.  Talk to you later!

Day 11 — A Photo of You Taken Recently

I had to go on Facebook to find a recent picture of me.  This was taken in May by one of my friends:

A bunch of us here in town had a little party at friends house near by.  I got pretty smashed and when that happens, stupid pics of me are taken.  This is a prime example haha.  Oh well, we were all having fun and it was awesome, so I don't care!

Day 10 — A Photo of You Taken Over Ten Years Ago

I couldn't have even been over a year old when this picture was taken, and I'm 22 now.  So this for sure falls into today's category.  Check out my awesome zoo animal bathing suit, I was rocking that thing haha!

Day 09 — A Photo You Took

I have over 15 gigabytes of pictures on my computer that I took myself so choosing was kind of hard.  I decided to pick 2, and here they are:

Of course I would pick 2 pics of my babies haha.  These pics were taken one month after we got Sampras in October 2008.  He is going to be 2 years old next week.  Dixie is going to be 3 in August.  *Sigh*... they grow up so fast!  I love taking pictures of my pets because they are just so adorable and I want to have lots of pictures of them for the future, so that I remember how adorable they were when they get older.  They will still be adorable then, I'm not saying that.

Oh another note, yes the template has been changed, of course.  The old one crashed on me or something, I don't know what the hell happened.  Anyways, this one will do for now.

Day 08 — A Photo That Makes You Sad

I thought I'd just quickly post this blog so that it looks like I'm getting back on track with the challenge even though I am failing at it horribly.

A photo that makes me sad... here it is:

This is my cat Sampras when he was about six months.  My dog Dixie and him played a little bit too rough and her tooth nicked his eyelid.  THANKFULLY she missed his eye, but he needed to have some special gel put on it just in case there was an infection.  He also needed an anti biotic pill for a week.  I felt so bad for the little guy.  He healed very well though, and today there isn't even a scar.  So even though looking at this picture makes me feel sad, it all turned out well in the end.

Day 07 — A Photo That Makes You Happy

Holy moly I really suck at keeping up with this 30 day challenge.  I have a good excuse though, as usual.  Jeff's mom has been visiting with us for the past few days so we've been pretty busy.  Sadly, she goes home tomorrow but we will see her when we go home at Christmas.

Okay so today I have to show a photo that makes me happy. Well, here it is:

This is a photo of Jeff, Dixie, and I from some family photos that we had done last summer.  We had lots of pics done, but this one is truly my favourite and it makes me feel the most happy.  It was a candid shot, taken while we supposed to be on a break and Dixie just happened to look up at me and kiss me and everything just turned out perfect.  This picture just looks so full of love and every time I see it makes me smile and feel happy.

Day 06 — Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

I guess I can just write about whatever I want on this day.  Yahoo!!

First off, obviously I changed my blog template.  I like one, I think it looks very summer-cafe-ish.  It looks nice and clean as well.  I don't really like those templates where crap is strewn all over the place and you have trouble reading things.  This template is really pretty I think.  I like it, until I find one I like better that is!

I feel so relieved right now.  Like a HUGE weight has been lifted off my shoulders.  Okay so I was supposed to have my final exam for my business law class next Sunday, in a week and half.  I scheduled that date at the beginning of my course even though I really had until the end of August because I thought I could squish all the work into a shorter period of time.  Little did I know that I would be kind of busy and not really have enough time to squish it all together.  So I'm sitting here, freaking out that I have way too much work to do in a week and a half so I decided to call up the school and ask if I could change the date.  It was no problem to them, way easier than I thought it would be.  So YAY!  Of course this doesn't mean that I should slack off and leave things until the very end, it just means that I don't need to so much work in so little time.  I now have more than enough time to get everything situated.

This weekend we are going to our friends wedding.  Jeff is a groomsman.  It should be really fun, especially because the wedding is at a casino and I want to play me some Black Jack!  Oh God, I'll probably lose all my money in about 2 minutes haha.

I wish I had time to write more because a lot of other things are happening too, but Jeff and I are going into the city tonight so I can go on a little makeup shopping spree and I need to get ready.  YAY SHOPPING!

Day 05 — Your Favourite Quote

I'm waiting for my 30 minute hair dye job to set in before I wash it out, so I decided I'd continue on with this.  By the way, my hair is supposed to come out as "Natural Medium Auburn"... hopefully it works out okay!

My favourite quote is:
"You gotta love livin' baby, 'cause dyin' is a pain in the ass!" - Frank Sinatra.

First of all let me start by saying that I am a HUGE Frank Sinatra fan.  There was never anyone like him and there never will be.  He had an amazing voice, he was an amazing actor, and when he was around, people knew to watch there back because you don't mess with Frank!  He died in the 1998, but his legacy will live on forever.

I love this quote because it is so true.  You have to love being alive and you have to make the best of all your days because everyone is going to die eventually and if your life was not enjoyed, you basically wasted everything.  Death sucks, so live your life while you've got it.  This quote is like a personal motto to me.

Day 04 — Your Favourite Book

Yes, I know I've been slacking on this 30 day challenge thing.  I have a good excuse though!  I've been completely SWAMPED with school work.  My final exam is only 2 weeks away and want to get as much study time in as possible.  I'm taking a break though, so here is day 4 - Favourite Book.

My favourite book of the moment is Twilight.  I started reading it last week and I am almost finished.  I have never seen the movies and I decided that I should read the books before I get that far ahead of myself.  I swore to myself that I wouldn't let this Twi-craze get to me, but sadly it has.

My ALL-TIME favourite book ever is Of Mice and Men.  I first read it in grade 10 English (it was a requirement, the whole class had to read it).  I loved it so much that I didn't give back the school copy that I was loaned and I still have it.  It's a story that makes you feel good and sad all in one.  I love how George takes care of Lennie, who is mentally disabled, even when he doesn't have too.  Its such a good book.  I think I'm going to start reading it again!

Day 03 — Your Favourite Television Program

Welcome to day 3!

My favourite television program of ALL TIME was and still is Charmed.  Yes, I know it got cancelled like 6 years ago or something like that, but whatever.  It was on for 9 years and dammit that was a good 9 years!  I was so obsessed with this show.  I would even unplugged my phone when it came on so that I wouldn't be interrupted.  I even had a Charmed website that got over 100,000 hits and some girl from Spain commented on the comment board that it was an awesome site!  Of course, the real reason I loved Charmed so much was the sexy ass guys they had on that show.  Leo Wyatt... hottest white lighter ever!  I had a picture of him in my purse.  Yes, I was a loser in high school.  Deal with it.  Then came sexy demon Cole, and sexy Charmed son's Chris and Wyatt... ah I miss that show.  Good thing I have the first 3 seasons on DVD!  Thanks Mom!

Today, my favourite show is Intervention.  I like it because it's real life.  I feel bad for some of the people on that show, and other people I just laugh at.  New season starting June 28th, I can't wait!

I also watch Hell's Kitchen, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Canada's Worst Handyman/Driver, Deadliest Catch, House, Bones, Glee... yes I watch a lot but I live in a retirement town in freakin' Manitoba, what else is there to do?

Day 02 — Your Favourite Movie

My favourite movie is Forrest Gump.

I have seen this movie probably over 100 times, due to it being on some TV channel every weekend and I have it burned on disc as well.  How could you not like this movie?  It's so sad, but it makes you feel really happy too.  It shows that no matter how much people think you can't do anything, you can really do whatever you want as long as you try hard enough.

The acting is amazing in this movie!  Tom Hanks is just incredible, and that is why he won a best actor Oscar for this film.  If he didn't win, there probably would have been riots or something lol.  My favourite person in the movie though is Lieutenant Dan, played by Gary Sinise.  He unfortunately did not win an Oscar for some messed up reason.  He deserved it more than anyone else did that's for sure.

Over all, Forrest Gump is just that one movie that I can't get enough of.  Even if I find it on TV and it's already half way through, I'll still watch it.  It sucks me in.

Day 01 — Your Favourite Song

Well, I actually have 2 favourite songs.  Is that allowed?  Oh well.

My first favourite song is "I'm From The Country" by Tracy Byrd.  Let me start off by saying I grew up listening to country music.  My mom turned the country radio station on as soon as she got up in the morning and it only went off around dinner time.  I used to hate country music because it's all we listened to and I got so sick of it, but now I really love it!  It's great music to get your drink on to lol.  This song is the best because it's just the best.  I'm not really from the country, but my family is really crazy like back woods country folk, so in a way I kind of am haha.  Every time I hear this song, I turn it WAY up and start singing... no, SCREAMING along.  Every once in a while I burn a mixed country CD to put in the car and this song is always the first track on every CD I make.  It's basically on about 7 CD's in the car right now lol.  I'm obsessed.

My second favourite song is "Jesse's Girl" by Rick Springfield.  It's a song from the 80's but I first heard it about 5 years ago on a trip to Nova Scotia.  Instant love.  I think the most I have ever listened to this song in one day was 25 times, I had it on repeat.  How can you not love this song?  We even have it on a karaoke CD for our Karaoke player and I sing it every time.  It doesn't even sound a quarter good as the original, but whatever.  I always request it at parties and dances too.

If you haven't heard these 2 songs and you know me, you don't hang around me that often lol.

Why Do I Need A Title, I Can't Think Of One!

I hate that I have to think of a title every time I write a blog post.  I can never think of one and they usually end up being something really stupid.  Isn't the date good enough?

I'll be pretty bored this weekend I think.  Jeff is going to his friends bachelor party because he a groomsman and they are going camping for two nights.  I have been invited to go to Saskatchewan with the bride for the weekend and I really want to go, but it's a 7-8 hour drive and I would have to take Dixie with me and I'm not sure if she would like that.  She gets carsick sometimes.  I'm still debating on going, I think now that Dixie is getting older she can handle it.  Sampras can stay here by himself, I can get anyone in town to come and feed him in the morning and night so that's not a problem.  I'm about 80% in for Saskatchewan if that's the choice.  I've never been, this is the farthest west I've been in Canada!

My apartment smells so good right now.  I've got a roast beef in the oven with carrots and oh man the smell is making me so hungry.  Too bad I have to wait another hour before it's done.  I know the exact time because the roast came with instructions.  I love when that happens.  I also have a new meat thermometer that you put in the meat while its cooking, so that is helping me out too.  It's going to be tasty!

Jeff and I are now full members of the Pinawa Rowing Club!  I absolutely LOVE rowing, it is a total body workout and it's really fun.  The membership fee wasn't fun though... $313.00 for the both of us!  Apparently it's for insurance purposes but I don't know, that sounds a little bit too high to me.  Oh well, it gives us unlimited access to the rowing club and our own key, so that's good.  Now if only it wasn't so windy out we could go.  It's been crazy windy here lately.

I had to finally smack my stupid self and get a Medic Alert bracelet for my Cold Urticaria, mostly because of rowing.  The doctor told me to get one like 2 years ago lol.  If I fell in the water while rowing, I'd basically need urgent medical attention and I wouldn't be able to tell anyone.  That cost a lot of money too... $72 for the bracelet plus $50 a year to be in the Medic Alert database.  I picked a bracelet that had really pretty purple beads on it.  Here is a picture from the website:

It's going to have my medical condition engraved on it along with instructions for paramedics and doctors.  It should be here in 2-3 weeks.

Well that's about everything that is going on around here right now.  Talk to you later!

Kinda Pissed

Well I got a call today from that job offer I talked about in my last post.  I didn't get it.  You want to know why?  She said everything in my interview was perfect, my resume was perfect, but I didn't get the job because I could not provide a reference from a place I used to work at in Ontario.  You want to know WHY I couldn't provide it?  BECAUSE THEY WENT BANKRUPT!  Yeah, they are no longer in business and I have no way of contacting them.  I told this to the lady and she didn't care.  She was like "if only your could have given me that reference...".  What the hell, it was impossible, I told her this, and I even offered her other references.  No, that wasn't good enough.  She wanted me to pull a magical reference out of my ass.  Well screw this bullshit.  I don't really give a crap anymore.  I'm going to focus on my school and that is about it.  That's all I need to do right now.

Where Have I Been?!

The answer to that question is... at home.  Yeah I've been at home all this time and I haven't posted since April 22nd.  Kinda sad, but I do have some good excuses.

For starters, I've been studying and working on my school work like a mad woman.  I had a midterm for my Business Law course last Saturday.  I got someone in town to watch me take it so that I didn't have to go all the way into the city.  I just had to make sure that the person watching me had a PhD.  Jeff works with someone with a PhD who agreed to watch me so it all worked out.  The midterm itself was all multiple choice and I finished the 50 questions in a little under an hour.  I'm not sure how I did, good hopefully.  My final exam is on June 27th and I have lots to do before then so I don't think I'll be blogging as much as I'd like too.

I also had a job interview for a senior home that is being built in our town.  I'm not sure what is going on with that though, they said they want a reference from when I was a supervisor at the dairy I used to work at in Ontario, but they went bankrupt shortly after I moved out here and I have no idea where they are or how to contact them.  I'm waiting too see if I can somehow get passed that, after all it's not my fault.  Hopefully everything turns out okay.

Dixie has been sick for the past 2-3 weeks.  She kept throwing up, not eating, and not drinking.  She wouldn't even eat her treats and she loves them.  Jeff took her to the vet while I was having my midterm and found out that she may have a stomach ulcer.  She has been on medication for about 5 days and seems to be getting better, so I'm really happy about that.  She also gets groomed on Saturday so that should make her feel a lot better.

I'm not going to end this without showing you my new purchases!  Things have been so stressful for me lately with school and stuff that I decided to treat myself.  Check out what I got:

Yay, new brushes!!  I was so excited to get theses, you have no idea!  I ordered them from Coastal Scents about a week and half ago and they arrived yesterday.  The site was having a 15% off the entire site sale so I decided it was a good time to get these.  The set is called the Magenta Deluxe Reptile Brush Set and I love it!  The hairs are goat hair and synthetic and they are the softest brushes I have ever owned.  The clutch they come with is actually a brush roll with a separate sleeve to hold each brush.  The regular price is $39.99 for the set but I got it for 15% off.  The pink brush is a kabuki brush.  I never had one before and I really wanted one so I decided to get this.  It's made from goat hair and oh my god you would not believe how soft it is!  It's incredible. The best part is I paid under $5 for it.  I'd expect to pay at least $20+ for a brush of this quality.

Anyways, I'm going to take Dixie outside.  Hopefully I can keep updating this regularly.

Quick Post

He he, no my blog did not get marked as spam again, I just have been too busy to really post anything.  I've been working on my school work hardcore lately and our weekends have been really busy.  I'll try to make a bigger post soon to tell everyone whats been happening, but right now I am trying to do 10 things at once haha.

Hello, I Love You (Won't You Tell Me Your Name!)

GLEE IS BACK TONIGHT!!

I'm in the middle of watching it and I am truly freakin' obsessed.  Hello, can Finn be any hotter?  Of course the answer is no!  I've already downloaded the songs from tonights episode. Thank God this show is back, I was getting so bored!  Holy crap, Sue Sylvester is voguing... YES!!

Anyways, we had such a busy weekend.  First on Friday we went to the Michelle Wright concert.  It was so amazing, she sounded so good!  Jeff and I got our pictures taken with her and I bought her book and got her to autograph it.  I was a really good night.

Saturday night our town held a social to raise money for our local skating arena.  It was really fun, there was a band and lots of dancing.  Lots of drinking too, but not on my part lol.  I just sat back and watched all the crazy drunk people make fools out of themselves.  Sometimes it's actually good not to drink because you are usually the only one who remembers everything and can use it to your advantage later on haha.  I think we stayed there from 7pm - 2:30am, so it was a pretty good night.

Sunday we went out for breakfast with some friends and decided on a road trip to Kenora for the day.  Nothing was really open in Kenora because they don't believe in Sunday shopping I guess, but it was still a really fun day.  We had dinner at Ho Ho's Chinese, good food as always.  By the time we got home though, we were completely exhausted.  I still don't think I've caught up on my sleep.

Jeff is having a games night tonight.  I'm so annoyed.  A certain someone showed up uninvited AGAIN.  Honestly.  Ugh, I'm just going to try to tune out... by listening to the Glee soundtrack!

Busy Weekend Coming Up!

Hmmm, it seems my blog has stopped being marked as spam.  Just wait, now that I've said that it'll freeze as soon as a I press the 'publish post' button.  That's just the kind of luck I have haha.  Don't block my blog Google! *fingers crossed*

We are going to have quite the busy weekend.  Tomorrow night we are going to see Michelle Wright in concert.  For those of you who don't know who Michelle Wright is, she is a country singer who was really big in the 90's but has simmered down a bit in recent years.  Some of her hits are "He Would Be 16", "Guitar Talk", and the more known "Your Love Is The Greatest Gift Of All".  She is coming to our town and we scooped up some tickets to attend.  I'm really excited, I grew up listening to her music.  It should be an amazing show!

On Saturday there is some fund raising social for our towns skating rink.  It needs more money because basically it's a piece of crap and it needs upgrades.  For those of you who don't know what a social is, it's what Manitoban's call parties.  Apparently they are called cabarets in Saskatchewan.  Weird I know lol.  Anyways, there is going to be a live band and stuff like that, so it should be fun!

MS Walk 2010

This year on April 25th I'm participating in the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada walk.  I don't really know anyone personally who has this disease, but it is really serious and I feel like I need to do something about it.  I've already raised $70, but more is needed.  If you would like to help save a life, PLEASE click on the link below and donate.  If you donate $25 or more, you will get a tax receipt mailed to you.  Any amount is good though.  It would be awesome if I could get more people to donate!

Happy Easter and A Quick Message!

Happy Easter everyone!

This is just a quick message to let everyone know why I haven't posted lately.  I don't know what is going on, but the last few posts I've done have been marked as spam and results in my blog being frozen.  It's probably going to happen after this one too (hopefully not, fingers crossed!).  I have to appeal each time to get my blog taken off the spam list because obviously I am not a spam bot, I'm a real person.  This can take up to 20 days to work, so I will not be able to post to my blog for 20 days which really REALLY sucks.  So if I don't post for awhile its because I'm trying to fight this stupid spamming crap.

Now, off to eat chocolate!

On The Mend!

I'm starting to feel better!  I don't think I've been this happy since I started my countdown to Christmas lol.  I actually ate a real meal yesterday.  We went out to a restaurant in the next town over called Jennifer's and I had the Shrimp Dill Soup and 10 Grilled Shrimp platter.  Yes, I love shrimp lol.  I often get that Seinfeld joke, "Hey Ashley, the ocean called, they're running out of shrimp!"  I can't help it though, it's so good and the chef at this restaurant is quite possibly the best chef in the world.  Plus, the meal was only $10, and you would not believe the large amounts of food you get.  I have to be careful though because I lost close to 10 pounds this week with not being able to eat and all and I really don't feel like gaining that all back.  It was just good to have a huge meal after only eating yucky jell-o and chocolate pudding all week.  I never want to see those products again!

Today Jeff and I are heading into a town about 30-45 minutes away for some shopping.  Well, first we have to go to the vet to pick up Dixie's heart worm pills for the season, then we are going grocery shopping and maybe some other shopping as well.  Who knows!  We were supposed to go to Subway for lunch because I am obsessed with their 3 grams of fat turkey breast on flat bread, but I think I might have overdone it last night a wee bit and my mouth is a little sore today.  So maybe we'll skip that.

Ever get that feeling like someone is staring at you?  I just did and I looked behind me and my cat Sampras is sitting in the middle of the room just staring at me and not moving at all.  *Looks again*... he's still doing it.  CREEPY CAT!

So Hungry...

I never realized how much I depended on food until I had this wisdom teeth surgery.  I know that kind of sounds bad, but after eating only fat-free chocolate pudding and raspberry jell-o for 4 days, you can really start to miss your old favourites.  I can't actually believe I'm saying this, but I am beginning to HATE pudding!  I used to love it!  I guess when you are forced to eat nothing but for days though, you get really sick of it.  Oh how I wish I could chew!

Also, something else happened today with my damn mouth.  I went for a 2 hour nap, woke up, and the left side of my face was swollen so bad that part of my eye is shut.  This is a new thing.  Is this supposed to happen?  Ugh I just want all of this to go away, I am hungry, losing unhealthy amounts of weight in such a short period of time, and man oh man is that turkey breast on flat bread from Subway ever calling my name.

-Ashley

EDIT:  Okay now my eye looks like I've been in a boxing match, its all black and blue.  YAY *rolls eyes*.

In Pain

Well I got my 4 wisdom teeth out on Saturday.  Can I just say that this is the worst pain of my life?  I'm serious.  I've broken my wrist in 2 places, had a concussion, broken my foot, and had a needle in my back when I pinched my sciatic nerve, and all of that put together is like a happy dream compared to what I am feeling right now.  Ugh, I just wish it would go away!  I had no pain before this, the teeth were not hurting me at all!  Obviously this was so sort of money scam by the oral surgeon because I am certain that they didn't need to come out.  Once again, someone in the field of dentistry proving how loyal they are to the Devil!

It was so weird though.  I don't remember anything about the surgery, I don't even remember going to sleep.  The last thing I remember was a nurse guy telling me that my veins were small, then he said "okay, poke!" and I was gone.  The doctor told me before hand that I was not going to be put right out, that I was going to get the gas and be half awake during the whole procedure.  LIAR!  I was put right out, there was no gas at all.  I honestly think I should sue.  Doctors are NOT supposed to lie to their patients about what is going to be done to them.  Son of a bitch!

I'm on 3 medications.  Tylenol 3's (which aren't working for pain at all!), penicillin to make sure that no infection starts, and steroids to keep the swelling down.  Of course they only gave me 2 days worth of steroids so I'm finished them and my face is swelled up like a balloon.  *Sigh*, nothing is going right for me.

There is one slight upside to all this though.  Because my mouth feels like a thousand rusty nails are being hammered into it, I can't eat a whole lot because it's extremely painful and my mouth won't open wide enough to fit anything there.  I've been living off of Jell-o.  Anyways, the good thing is I've lost 6 pounds!  Yay me!  I still hate dentists though, and everyone who works in that field of work!

My ENTIRE Makeup Collection

I joined this makeup forum called Makeup Talk and there is a section in there where people post pictures of their makeup collections.  I thought this was a cool idea (plus I'm bored lol), so I decided to do it and post the pics here.  Okay, here goes!

This is where I store everything.  It's in a wall unit beside my desk in the the living room.
My 2 palettes from Coastal Scents: 78 Eye Shadow and Blush Combo Palette(left) and 88 Ultra Shimmer Eye Shadow Palette(right)

NYX Ultra Pearl Mania Pigments that I put into better containers.  The jars they came in had such a small opening that not even a Q-tip could fit in!  I got these from Cherry Culture.  The 4 on the far right column are not NYX, they are miscellaneous.

The Large Makeup Collection from E.L.F.  I got this for my birthday last year.

The Mini Makeup Collection from E.L.F. and a palette that is half lip colours and half eye shadows from The Colour Workshop.  The Elf palette was free with a coupon code this site was having!

More stuff from E.L.F.!  4 creme eye shadow duos that I use as bases, 2 eye shadow duos, and 2 eye brightening quads.

This is just some random eye shadow that I picked up at Wal-Mart or something like that.  The Wet n' Wild palette is called "Vanity" and it has 3 matte and 3 shimmer shades.  WOW it is so pigmented!  Pretty good for only $6!

My eye primers.  I can't put eye shadow on without an eye primer because my lids are so oily that my eye shadow creases and this helps with that.  On the top left I have an Eye Poxy 2 Primer from Coastal Scents, don't ever buy this.  It is so crappy, its hard as a rock!  Below that is a NYX eye shadow base from Cherry Culture.  It's really good.  In the middle I have 2 Aloette Heavenly Sheen eye primers (one in a box) that I just got from some lady in building who was having an Aloette party.  So far its pretty good.  Below that are 2 E.L.F. primers.  The black one is like a big concealer stick and the one below is a mineral one.  That's my all time favourite one!  On the right side in a Wet n' Wild Idol Eyes creme eyeshadow base pencil.  I got it at Wal-mart.

My mascaras.  The only ones I like here are the Covergirl Lash Blast Luxe, Lash Blast Volume, and Lash Blast Length.  They are awesome!  Especially the volume one, it's my favourite.  The Volume Exact clumps way to much, the Maybelline Colossal is CRAP, way too much product gets on the brush, and the E.L.F. one was a free gift and its too wet.

Eyeliners.  Just a bunch of miscellaneous ones from Cherry Culture, E.L.F., and Wal-Mart.

These are my face products.  I forgot to put my blush in there though, it's NYC Blush in Riverside Rose.  Here we have my Covergirl Trublend foundation in 405 Ivory, my Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Medium Honey, my NYX Loose Powder in Translucent, and my Covergirl Invisible concealer.  All of this was bought at Wal-Mart.

Here are my lip sticks/glosses.  The bottom row is all NYC lipstick bought at Well.ca except for that blue one, that's a Covergirl.  The rest are gloss and lipsticks bought from Aloette, Ebay, Wal-Mart, and Cherry Culture.

Okay the last things are my brushes.  There is a full set from Coastal Scents and a full set from E.L.F.  I just use some glass containers and sand I got from Dollarama to keep them in place.

Well, that's about it for now.  I did just purchase a new 78 colour NYX eye shadow palette from Cherry Culture, but it just got shipped out today so it won't be here for another week or so.  I hope you all like my collection!

Wisdom Teeth Out This Saturday

Oh gosh guys, I am really scared about getting my wisdom teeth out.  I know I can't avoid it and it will end up being beneficial to me in the end, but I am really not looking forward to this.  I mean, I'm sure that if I had some kind of surgery in the past I would not be as worried, but this is the first surgery I will ever have, and I am 22 years old.  The worst things that ever happened to me were my broken wrist in high school and my broken foot last fall but neither required surgery, I was just in a cast for 6 weeks for both.  I've heard these horror stories where people go in for routine things and don't wake up from the anaesthetic.  I am actually having nightmares, I can't sleep at all.  What if I am allergic to the drugs they put in me, I wouldn't know because I've never been in contact with them before.  Ugh, I'm going crazy.

I got a consent form in the mail that I have to sign and bring with me on the surgery day.  Listen to this garbage, it says "Do not wear makeup and remove all body piercings".  So not only am I going to look like a chipmunk when my mouth is all swollen, but I won't even have makeup on to look at least a little good.  Dammit all to hell!  I hardly ever leave the house without makeup, it's just my thing, you know?

Oh well, I guess there really is nothing I can do to avoid this procedure.  I guess there is a good thing happening that will make me happy: Ipod Touch with tax refund... woo hoo!  Next month, that is.  I need it, my Ipod only holds 15 minutes of battery charge and it freezes all the time.  Plus, I need it for when I have to stand guard downstairs over my laundry for 4 hours.  Stupid apartment building jerks!

Kenora Road Trip

Jeff and I went on a road trip to Kenora, Ontario today.  It's about 2 hours away from where we live in Manitoba.  Usually if we go to Kenora, we go with other people but this time we decided to go by ourselves and I'm kind of glad we did because it was so much fun spending the whole day together.  Plus, I took my JVC Everio digital camcorder along and taped 43 minutes of the adventure!

We originally were going for beer because "The Beer Store" does not exist in Manitoba and Jeff wanted some Ontario beer.  They don't sell Ontario beer in Manitoba.  Note that it was not for me, as I don't drink lol.  We also picked up some beer for some of Jeff's friends.  After that, we went to Wal-Mart to do a little shopping.  Yes, I shop at Wal-Mart and I don't really care if people think that is gross or cheap or whatever because they have good things for cheap prices and I really don't feel like spending $50 on a pair of pants when I can get just as good pants or better for $12, which is what I did today.  I got 4 shirts and they were only $3 each!  They are really nice I think.  I also got one pair of comfy black pants that are also kind of like dress pants so I can wear them out.  I also got a Wet n' Wild Colour Icon eyeshadow palette.  I heard about them on YouTube and from what people are saying and what I saw, I really wanted one.  They have 6 shadows in each one.  The one I got is called Vanity and it has 2 cream coloured shades (one matte, one shimmer), 2 light brown shades (one matte, one shimmer) and 2 dark brown shades (one matte, one shimmer).  The colours are super pigmented!  I was really amazed, especially it was only something like $5!  I really want to go back to Wal-Mart and get the 3 other palettes.  I also picked up a dark green kohl eye liner for St. Patty's Day.

After Wal-Mart, we wanted to eat but since we don't know the area that well we didn't know where to go for good food.  Jeff asked some lady on the street (who looked pretty dirty lol) where would be a good place to eat.  She directed us to a Chinese place called "Ho-Ho's".  I was a good choice, we got HUGE plates of food for only $10.95!  I couldn't even finish it all.  Plus, they had tickets on their place mats for a free game of bowling at the place next door.  Naturally we went after dinner and had a game.  It was fun, but I failed horribly lol.  Jeff beat me 144-96(?).  Anyways, it was really fun.

We then stopped at Tim Horton's to get coffee and chocolate milk and headed home.  I'm so happy that Jeff and I did this because we don't really get to do anything fun without people tagging along with us.  I hope that we will be able to do this more often.
